Nia gayle
DANCER
Nia has had an affinity for dance from an early age. She probably began dancing in the womb, but first appeared on stage at 4 years old. She developed her love for theater performances in junior high and high school where she was a member of show choir, musicals, and the dance team. Throughout that time she studied various techniques through books, film and the internet such as African, character, jazz, tap, ballet and modern to bring the characters to life. She minored in Dance at Ohio State where she also participated in pop-up shows, charity events, and film projects of other students and faculty. This experience broadened her perspective on how non-traditional performance spaces and social dances expand the dance world. Nia is so happy to return to the Xclaim stage for another season. She first appeared in the 2015 performance of 5-6-7-8. Since then, she has been in 10 shows and co-choreographed 'Brainwaves' in 2018. Nia would like to thank her mother, friends and family for encouraging her passionate pursuit of dance. |
