John Funk
INSTRUCTOR: PIANO
John studied both Piano Performance and Piano Pedagogy at The Ohio State University School of Music, where he received both the Gertrude Kuhfahs and George Haddad Scholarships in piano and studied under Dr. Donald Gren. A respected private teacher and pianist in southern and central Ohio for two decades, John Funk has also composed numerous solo piano works and has studied period keyboard instruments with Penelope Crawford, in Ann Arbor Michigan, among others. Mr. Funk has published several articles on Keyboard Performance Practices and Piano Literature. Mr. Funk has repeatedly performed on harpsichord in Oberlin's Baroque Performance Institute and studied at the Oregon Bach Festival. In addition to teaching privately, Mr. Funk also has conducted numerous workshops and seminars in Columbus, Ohio and Chicago, Illinois and served as pianist for Bible Study Fellowship International. Elder John Funk currently serves as pastor at Cannonsburg, Eagle Creek and Barrows Run Primitive Baptist Churches, in Ashland, Kentucky, Arlington, Ohio and Opal, Virginia, respectively. John Funk has produced two compact disc recordings and recently authored, "The Scale Book: An Introduction to the Harmonic Rudiments of Music." He resides with his wife Angela and their son Luke in Lancaster, Ohio. |
