Grace Koenig

INSTRUCTOR: MODERN Grace Koenig was born in Cleveland, OH and lived there until attending The Ohio State University in 2020. Grace is currently in her senior year, earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and Bachelor of Science in Architecture at The Ohio State University. Grace began her dance training at Spotlight Dance Center in Mentor, OH in 2010 where she predominantly studied jazz, ballet, contemporary, pointe, and hip hop. She was part of Spotlight’s competition team for 5 years— experiencing class from renowned choreographers and teachers— before stepping back to pursue more of her own choreography and targeted ballet practice. Since moving to Columbus, Grace’s dance training has shifted to contemporary, modern, ballet, and African dance practice. She has continued her choreographic focus and pursued dance filmmaking. Grace has had the chance to perform in Crystal Perkins’ Freedom Practices and Susan Petry Van Pelt’s Now Is The Time at OSU. She has also recently had the opportunity to continue her cross-disciplinary arts study as an Interior Design Intern at Payne & Tompkins Design | Renovations. Grace is passionate about how the arts can connect and enhance each other. 2022 was her first season teaching for Xclaim Centre for the Arts. 2023 is her first season as a movement artist with the company. |
